A 30-Day Social Media Content Plan for Small Businesses
A repeatable 30-day Instagram and Facebook content plan for small businesses: content pillars, a weekly rhythm, Reels ideas and what to measure.

Posting "when there is time" is the most common reason small business pages stall. A simple plan removes the daily question of what to post and lets you batch the work into a few hours a week.
This is a 30-day plan you can reuse every month.
Step 1: Choose four content pillars
Pillars are the recurring themes your page talks about. Four is enough for variety without losing focus. For most service businesses they look like this:
- Expertise: tips, common mistakes, answers to questions customers ask.
- Proof: reviews, results, before-and-afters, client stories.
- Behind the scenes: your team, process and workplace.
- Offers: services, packages, seasonal promotions, how to book.
A restaurant might use menu stories, kitchen moments, guest reviews and offers instead. The point is to decide once.
Step 2: Set a weekly rhythm
Four or five posts a week is sustainable for most small teams:
| Day | Format | Pillar |
|---|---|---|
| Monday | Reel | Expertise |
| Tuesday | Story poll or question | Engagement |
| Wednesday | Carousel | Expertise or proof |
| Friday | Reel | Behind the scenes |
| Saturday | Post or Reel | Proof or offer |
Use Stories daily if you can: they keep you visible to people who already follow you.
Step 3: Fill the month
Repeat the weekly rhythm four times and you have about 20 posts. Some ideas that work for almost any business:
- The three questions customers ask most, answered in one short Reel each.
- A myth in your industry, and the truth.
- A day-in-the-life clip of your team.
- A customer review turned into a simple graphic, with their permission.
- A before-and-after or a process timelapse.
- "What you get when you book with us", step by step.
- A quick tour of your premises.
- One clear offer per week, with a single way to act on it.
Step 4: Batch the work
Block two or three hours once a week. Write all captions in one go, shoot several Reels in the same session, and schedule everything with Meta Business Suite. Batching is what makes consistency realistic.
Step 5: Make every post easy to act on
End posts with one clear next step: "Comment PRICE and we'll send the details", "Tap the link to book", or "Message us on WhatsApp". Keep your profile bio, link and contact buttons up to date so interest turns into enquiries.
Step 6: Measure what matters
At the end of the month, look at:
- Reach and follows from Reels, to see what brings in new people.
- Saves and shares, which signal genuinely useful content.
- Profile visits, link taps and messages, which are closest to real business.
Do more of the top three posts, drop the bottom three, and run the plan again.
Keep it simple
You do not need to be on every platform or post every day. Four pillars, a steady weekly rhythm and an honest monthly review will outperform bursts of activity followed by silence.
